Packaging types

By means of the Packaging types application, you specify the packaging properties for a selected country as part of the packaging disposal process under the VerpackG law.

According to the German Packaging Act (VerpackG) in force as of 1.01.2019, certain obligations were imposed on companies that put packagings filled with products on the German market for the first time, which remain with a retail customer or organization as waste after use.

Business entities who are putting packed products into circulation for the first time should comply with the new law. In the case of selling DDP/DAP to German retailers, the responsible party is a foreign company, such as a Polish company.

In the Packaging types application, you can determine what material a packaging is made of and whether the packaging is of the material, area or volume type.  Additionally you can specify the required units of measure.

In order to use the application, you need to activate the Packaging disposal function in the Customizing application.

In the Customizing application → Packaging disposal function, you can change the company responsible for waste management by country.

The application consists of a query pane containing a toolbar with standard buttons.

Query pane

Fields available in the query pane:

  • Packaging type (mandatory) – the field is composed of two segments. In the first segment, you need to select the country for which packaging types are defined. In the second segment, you need to an identification of packaging type for the specific country. Country identification can be entered manually or selected from the list available under the [Value assistant] button. A country identification can consist of up to 10 characters: letters, numbers and special characters such as hyphen and dot.
  • Description (mandatory) – description of packaging type
  • Category – packaging type category selectable from the predefined list. Available options are:
    • Material
    • Area
    • Volume
  • Description (mandatory) – enter a description for the encoding type in this field. The values are retrieved from the Units application.

Customizing

A user can see the Packaging types application when the Active parameter is selected in the Customizing application → Base function → Packaging disposal sub function.

Business entities

The business entity com.cisag.app.general.obj.PackagingAttribute is relevant for the Packaging types application. It is part of the business entity group com.cisag.app.general.MasterData. It is used, for example, to perform one of the following:

  • assign authorizations
  • import or export data

Authorizations

Authorizations can be assigned by means of authorization roles as well as by assignment of organizations.

There are no special capabilities for the Packaging types application.

Organizational assignments

No organizational assignment is required for the Packaging types application.

Special features

There are no special features for the Packaging types application.

Authorizations for business partners

The Packaging types application is not released for business partners.
