Procedures: Product cost calculations

This document describes the procedures for handling the Product cost  calculations application.

Creating new pre-calculation

  1. Open the Product Cost Calculations application.
  2. In first part of the Number field, select calculation type.
  3. Create new calculation with the use of the [New] button.
    In the second part of the Number field, the system automatically assigns the calculation number in accordance with the numbering scheme defined in the calculation type. The fields of defined product cost calculation will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the calculation schema defined for the selected calculation type.
  4. Select the Pre-calculation view from the drop-down list on the toolbar.
  5. In the Description field, define the description of the calculation.
  6. In the Production item filed, select the production item. The item must have data defined in the Items application, Production view.
  7. In the Calculation quantity, define the quantity and the unit for the item which the calculation will be executed
    For the pre-calculation, it is possible to define three values of the calculation quantity with the use of the [Additional data] button.
  8. Change the entries of the fields filled-in automatically on the basis of selected calculation scheme, if necessary.
  9. Save created calculation with the use of the [Save] button.
  10. Calculate values with the use of the button [Select action] → [Calculate].
    The Update item prices dialog window will be opened.
  • In the Validity field, select the date of the calculation validity.
  • If calculations are supposed to be carried out on the basis of the warehouse data, select warehouse in the Warehouse field.
  • If the prices are supposed to be determined on the level of the storage areas, it is necessary to activate the Use valuation prices at warehouse level parameter.
  • If the prices for the calculation are supposed to be retrieved from the history of prices, it is necessary to check the Use valuation prices from history parameter.
  • In the Settings tab, define the batch job data.
  • Start the calculation with the use of the [In batch] button.

If there are several values defined in the Quantity field, the system automatically creates the calculation of the product for each defined value and the comparison of created calculations.

11. If it is necessary to update sales prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update sales price].

12. If it is necessary to update valuation prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update valuation price].

Creating pre-calculation with order reference

  1. Open the Product Cost Calculations application.
  2. In first part of the Number field, select calculation type.
  3. Create new calculation with the use of the [New] button.
    In the second part of the Number field, the system automatically assigns the calculation number in accordance with the numbering scheme defined in the calculation type. The fields of defined product cost calculation will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the calculation schema defined for the selected calculation type.
  4. Select the Pre-calculation with order reference view from the drop-down list on the toolbar.
  5. In the Description field, define the description of the calculation.
  6. In the Sales order line item field, enter the data of the sales order to which created product cost calculation will refer. The field is divided into three parts, select:
  • in the first part – order category
  • in the second part – sales order number
  • in the third part – item line number in the table of the selected sales order

7. In the Production order field, enter the data of the production order to which created product cost calculation will refer. The field is divided into two parts, select:

  • in the first part – production order type.
  • in the second part – production order number

8.Change the entries of the fields filled-in automatically on the basis of selected calculation scheme, if necessary.

9. Save created calculation with the use of the [Save] button.
The Item and Calculation quantity field will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the sales order.

10. Calculate values with the use of the button [Select action] → [Calculate].
The Update item prices dialog window will be opened.

  • In the Validity field, select the date of the calculation validity.
  • If calculations are supposed to be carried out on the basis of the warehouse data, select warehouse in the Warehouse field.
  • If the prices are supposed to be determined on the level of the storage areas, it is necessary to activate the Use valuation prices at warehouse level parameter.

Creating pre-calculation with quotation reference

  1. Open the Product Cost Calculations application.
  2. In first part of the Number field, select calculation type.
  3. Create new calculation with the use of the [New] button.
    In the second part of the Number field, the system automatically assigns the calculation number in accordance with the numbering scheme defined in the calculation type. The fields of defined product cost calculation will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the calculation schema defined for the selected calculation type.
  4. Select the Pre-calculation with quotation reference view from the drop-down list on the toolbar.
  5. In the Description field, define the description of the calculation.
  6. In the Quotation line item field, enter the data of the quotation to which created product cost calculation will refer. The field is divided into three parts, select:
  • in the first part – sales quotation type
  • in the second part – sales quotation number
  • in the third part – item line number in the table of the selected sales quotation

8. Change the entries of the fields filled-in automatically on the basis of selected calculation scheme, if necessary.

9. Save created calculation with the use of the [Save] button.
The Item and Calculation quantity field will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the sales quotation.

10. Calculate values with the use of the button [Select action] → [Calculate].
The Update item prices dialog window will be opened.

  • In the Validity field, select the date of the calculation validity.
  • If calculations are supposed to be carried out on the basis of the warehouse data, select warehouse in the Warehouse field.
  • If the prices for the calculation are supposed to be retrieved from the history of prices, it is necessary to check the Use valuation prices from history parameter.
  • In the Settings tab, define the batch job data.
  • Start the calculation with the use of the [In batch] button.

11.If it is necessary to update sales prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update sales price].

12. If it is necessary to update valuation prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update valuation price].

Creating new pre-calculation with service

  1. Open the Product Cost Calculations application.
  2. In first part of the Number field, select calculation type.
  3. Create new calculation with the use of the [New] button.
    In the second part of the Number field, the system automatically assigns the calculation number in accordance with the numbering scheme defined in the calculation type. The fields of defined product cost calculation will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the calculation schema defined for the selected calculation type.
  4. Select the Preliminary calculation with service item view from the drop-down list on the toolbar.
  5. In the Description field, define the description of the calculation.
  6. In the Production item filed, select the production item. The item must have data defined in the Items application, Production view.
  7. In the Calculation quantity, define the quantity and the unit for the item which the calculation will be executed
    For the pre-calculation, it is possible to define three values of the calculation quantity with the use of the [Additional data] button.
  8. In the Update sales price using the line section, in the Service item field, select an item of Service type.
  9. Change the entries of the fields filled-in automatically on the basis of selected calculation scheme, if necessary.
  10. Save created calculation with the use of the [Save] button.
  11. Calculate values with the use of the button [Select action] → [Calculate].
    The Update item prices dialog window will be opened.
    • In the Validity field, select the date of the calculation validity.
    • If calculations are supposed to be carried out on the basis of the warehouse data, select warehouse in the Warehouse field.
    • If the prices are supposed to be determined on the level of the storage areas, it is necessary to activate the Use valuation prices at warehouse level parameter.
    • If the prices for the calculation are supposed to be retrieved from the history of prices, it is necessary to check the Use valuation prices from history parameter.
    • In the Settings tab, define the batch job data.
    • Start the calculation with the use of the [In batch] button.

If there are several values defined in the Quantity field, the system automatically creates the calculation of the product for each defined value and the comparison of created calculations.

12. If it is necessary to update sales prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update sales price].

13. If it is necessary to update valuation prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update valuation price].

Creating new production order calculation

  1. Open the Product Cost Calculations application.
  2. In first part of the Number field, select calculation type.
  3. Create new calculation with the use of the [New] button.
    In the second part of the Number field, the system automatically assigns the calculation number in accordance with the numbering scheme defined in the calculation type. The fields of defined product cost calculation will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the calculation schema defined for the selected calculation type.
  4. Select the Production order calculation view from the drop-down list on the toolbar.
  5. In the Description field, define the description of the calculation.
  6. In the Production order field, enter the data of the production order to which created product cost calculation will refer. The field is divided into two parts, select:
  • in the first part – production order type.
  • in the second part – production order number

7. Change the entries of the fields filled-in automatically on the basis of selected calculation scheme, if necessary.

8. Save created calculation with the use of the [Save] button.
The Item, Calculation quantity and Production method field will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the sales quotation.

9.Calculate values with the use of the button [Select action] → [Calculate].
The Update item prices dialog window will be opened.

  • In the Validity field, select the date of the calculation validity.
  • If calculations are supposed to be carried out on the basis of the warehouse data, select warehouse in the Warehouse field.
  • If the prices are supposed to be determined on the level of the storage areas, it is necessary to activate the Use valuation prices at warehouse level parameter.
  • If the prices for the calculation are supposed to be retrieved from the history of prices, it is necessary to check the Use valuation prices from history parameter.
  • In the Settings tab, define the batch job data.
  • Start the calculation with the use of the [In batch] button.

10. If it is necessary to update sales prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update sales price].

11. If it is necessary to update valuation prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update valuation price].

Creating new final calculation of the production order value.

  1. Open the Product Cost Calculations application.
  2. In first part of the Number field, select calculation type.
  3. Create new calculation with the use of the [New] button.
    In the second part of the Number field, the system automatically assigns the calculation number in accordance with the numbering scheme defined in the calculation type. The fields of defined product cost calculation will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the calculation schema defined for the selected calculation type.
  4. Select the Final calculation of the production order view from the drop-down list on the toolbar.
  5. In the Description field, define the description of the calculation.
  6. In the Production order field, enter the data of the production order to which created product cost calculation will refer. The field is divided into two parts, select:
  • in the first part – production order type.
  • in the second part – production order number

7.Change the entries of the fields filled-in automatically on the basis of selected calculation scheme, if necessary.

8. Save created calculation with the use of the [Save] button.
The Item, Calculation quantity and Production method field will be filled-in automatically on the basis of the sales quotation.

9. Calculate values with the use of the button [Select action] → [Calculate].
The Update item prices dialog window will be opened.

  • In the Validity field, select the date of the calculation validity.
  • If calculations are supposed to be carried out on the basis of the warehouse data, select warehouse in the Warehouse field.
  • If the prices are supposed to be determined on the level of the storage areas, it is necessary to activate the Use valuation prices at warehouse level parameter.
  • If the values of the production order calculations are supposed to be compared with the actual values of the production order, it is necessary to activate the parameter responsible for comparing postulated and actual values . To be able to activate the parameter, it is necessary to define data in the following fields: Basic calculation, Reference calculation and Reference type.
  • If the parameter responsible for comparing postulated and actual values is active, in the Reference type field it is necessary to select the reference type created during the execution of the action.
  • If the prices for the calculation are supposed to be retrieved from the history of prices, it is necessary to check the Use valuation prices from history parameter.
  • In the Settings tab, define the batch job data.
  • Start the calculation with the use of the [In batch] button.

10. If it is necessary to update sales prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update sales price].

11. If it is necessary to update valuation prices, start appropriate action with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update valuation price].

Deleting calculation

Note
Product cost calculation can be deleted at any moment, provided that it was not created in order to valuate an item kit on the basis of the components.

In order to delete calculation:

  1. Open the Product Cost Calculations application.
  2. In the Number field, select the calculation which is supposed to be deleted.
  3. With the use of the [Delete] button, delete the calculation.

Action → [Update sales price]

Note
In a multi-company environment, in order to update the sales price from the level of the Product cost calculation application, first, it is necessary to complete data in the Update valuation prices according to line item in the Calculation schemas application.  Then, it is necessary to retrieve the data in the Product cost calculations application, after selecting the type of calculation. This section cannot be edited in the Product cost calculations application, because the product cos calculation is executed in a logistics organization which is not a purchasing organization.

In order to update sales price:

  1. Open the calculation for which the Calculate action has been carried out.
  2. Update the sales price list with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update sales price].
    The Update sales prices dialog window is opened.
  3. In the Price level field, select the level on which the item prices are supposed to be changed. The price can be changed on the Item level and the Item and customer level.
  4. Define price validity dates.
  5. In the Settings tab, define the batch job data.
  6. Start the price update with the use of the [In batch] button.

Action → [Update valuation price]

Note
The update of a valuation price is carried out on the basis of the data entered in the section Update valuation prices according to line item. Detailed description of fields presented in the section can be found in article Product cost calculations.

In order to update valuation price:

  1. Open the calculation for which the Calculate action has been carried out.
  2. Update the valuation price list with the use of the button [Select action] → [Update valuation price].
    The Update valuation prices dialog window is opened.
  3. In the Price level field, select the level on which the item prices are supposed to be changed. The following options are available for selection:
  • At item level
  • At warehouse level

4. In the Warehouse field, select the warehouse for which the prices will be updated.
If the action is carried out for a calculation of Calculation of the production order type or Final calculation of the production order, the field assumes the default value of the destination warehouse of the calculated production order.

5. If it is necessary to create prices for storage areas in which the price for selected item does not exist, it is necessary to activate the parameter allowing for creating valuation price at warehouse level.

6.Start the price update with the use of the [OK] button.
