Topic overview
A warehouse zone type can be assigned to one or more warehouse zones. The assignment supplements the properties of the warehouse zone. If an inventory item is also assigned to a warehouse zone type, then this item is put-away only in warehouse zones of the same warehouse zone type. In this way, you can manage to put-away various items in separate warehouse zones at a warehouse having to map it through storage restrictions.

Definitions of terms
Warehouses
A warehouse is a logically or physically defined area in which item inventory is maintained. A warehouse is always assigned to a site. If warehouse can be subdivided into warehouse zones and storage locations if storgae location control is activated in the Customizing. The exact structure of the warehouse is defined by the warehouse organization.
Warehouse zones
If storage location control is activated in the Customizing application, a warehouse can be subdivided into warehouse zones. A warehouse can have any number of warehouse zones.
Application description
With the Warehouse zone types application, you can create and edit warehouse zone types. The application consists of a query pane and a work pane.
Query pane
The query pane contains the required search fields to determine the warehouse storage zone types.
The field contents of the fields are described in detail below:
- Type – enter the identification of a warehouse zone type as search criterion in this field.
- Description – enter a description as a search criterion in this field. The description is an additional name for the warehouse zone type. It can be chosen and can be equivocal in the sense that several warehouse zone types can have the same description. All entries that match the description entered are displayed.
- Deletion marker – in this field, you can enter an additional search criterion whether warehouse zones with deletion markers should also be displayed in the work pane.
Work pane
The warehouse zone types that correspond with the details in the search fields in the work pane are displayed. You can enter the new warehouse zones there as well as edit the description of existing warehouse zone types.
The table contents are described in detail below:
- Type – this column displays the identification of a warehouse zone type. The identification of the warehouse zone type is unique within an OLTP database. It can be freely selectable text that can only be edited until the warehouse zone type is saved for the first time.
- Description – this column displays the description of the warehouse zone type. If you enter a new warehouse zone type, then you can enter in this field the description of the warehouse zone type.The description is an additional name for the warehouse zone type. You can enter a freely selectable text. Meaningful descriptions simplify the search for the correct warehouse zone type for the user.
Customizing
No settings need to be defined for the Warehouse zone types application in the Customizing application.
Business entities
The following business entity is relevant for the Warehouse zone types application that you can use, for example, in order to:
- assign authorizations,
- set up activity definitions or
- import or export data.
Storage zone type: com.cisag.app.inventory.obj.ZoneType
The business entity is part of the following business entity group: com.cisag.app.inventory.MasterData
Authorizations
Authorization can be assigned by means of authorization roles as well as by assigning an organization. The authorization concept is described in the technical article Authorizations.

There are no special capabilities for the Warehouse zone types application.

No organizational assignment is required for the Warehouse zone types application.
