Cockpit: Storage locations

Topic overview

The application Cockpit: Storage locations is primarily used to query storage locations via their basic information, such as warehouses and warehouse zones. You can use this application to obtain an overview of the existing storage locations. In addition, further actions can be carried out from the application for one or more storage locations, such as the creation of inventory count lists.

The main general description of a cockpit, which includes the usual handling of a query and work pane, can be found in the Cockpits article. Information on Customizing, Business entities and Authorizations can be found in the Storage locations article, in which the Storage locations application is described. The topics that are apply specifically to the Cockpit: Storage locations application are covered below.

Application description

With the help of the query application Cockpit: Storage locations, you can get an overview of all or selected storage locations. Further processing options are also available:

  • Switching to the Storage locations application via the storage location identification
  • Execution of application-related actions

The application consists of a query pane and a work pane.

Query area

Query fields are stored in the query pane. As a rule, the most important query fields are already present. However, the number of query fields and their placement can vary.

The query pane is saved per view. You can determine which query fields are displayed. To do this, select the desired query fields from a list of fields. The description of the query fields can usually be found in the direct help.

General descriptions of a query pane can be found in the Cockpits article.

For information on the meaning of the fields, please refer to the explanations in the Storage locations article.

In addition to the main search with the query identifiers in the query pane, the detailed search Fixed and picking locations can be used. Detailed searches can be combined with the main search so that both the query identifiers from the query pane and the query identifiers from the detailed search are evaluated as an AND link. A checkbox is available in the section line of the detailed search for combining. In order to be able to display corresponding results in the work pane, the button [Fixed and picking locations] button is available. If this button is activated, a further heading line with corresponding detailed information appears in the work pane.

Work pane

A table is available in the work pane in which the queried storage locations are displayed. Here you can determine which information about a storage location is displayed. To view a storage location in different ways with different information, multiple views can be created.

If you have also activated a detailed search button, the table contains an additional heading line and detailed information.

General descriptions of a work pane can be found in the Cockpits article.

For information on the meaning of the columns, please refer to the explanations in the Storage locations article.

Action [Change QA status…]

You can use the [Change QA status…] action to change the quality assurance status (QA status) of storage locations.

You cannot perform this action if the inventory management server has to process an open action to change the QA status of an identifier, a warehouse or a storage zone. QA statuses can only be changed separately for identifiers and the elements of a structured warehouse.

Preconditions

To change the QA status of an identifier, a warehouse or a storage zone, there must be no open task for the inventory management server.

Instructions
  1. Open the Cockpit: Storage locations application
  2. Select the storage locations whose QA status you want to change
  3. In the standard toolbar under the [Actions] button, select the action [Change QA status…]
    • A dialog box opens
  4. If necessary, change the setting of the desired QA status under the Parameters tab. The description can be found under Change quality assurance status dialog box
  5. If necessary, change the background and output settings
  6. Select one of the buttons to execute the action
    • The system changes the QA status of the identifiers with a delay or immediately.
Change quality assurance status dialog box

Available field:

QA status – in this field, specify the quality assurance status (QA status) that you want to assign to the selected identifiers. Choose between the following QA statuses:

  • Released
  • In quarantine
  • Blocked

Action [Generate inventory count list…]

You can use the [Generate inventory count list…] action to create inventory count lists for selected objects.

Inventory count lists can only be generated for a non-completed inventory. Objects that do not match the characteristics of the physical inventory are ignored.

If there is an open inventory count list item with the same characteristics as a selected inventory, for example, an information line item is created if you have activated the corresponding function.

The generated inventory count list includes inventories of a selected item or storage location according to the other characteristics for generating the inventory count list. If, for example, you have only selected one of several item inventories in a storage location, then line items for all item inventories in the storage location are generated in the inventory count list.

Further information on the action can be found in the article Action: Generate inventory count list.
