Definitions of terms

Storage location

A storage location is the exact point in a warehouse where items can be stored. A storage location within a warehouse always lies in a warehouse zone and is determined precisely on the basis of a row, a level, and a storage location number. Each storage location has a storage location category that establishes the use of the storage location. The availability of storage locations is essential for storage location control.

Slot

A storage slot is a subunit of a storage location. It is the smallest component of a warehouse. A storage slot can accept exactly one storage unit. The number of storage slots is the maximum number of storage units allowed for the storage
location.

Description of the value assistant

The storage locations and slots are hereinafter summarized under the term Locations. Statements apply then for both storage locations and for slots, if they are displayed.

List of results

The columns in detail:

Warehouse/warehouse zone/storage location – this column displays the warehouse, the warehouse zone and the storage location.
On storage locations in the Storage location with storage unit category, the put-away can involve slots that are empty or partially filled with the item to be put away. Therefore, for partially filled storage locations, the slots are displayed additionally in a sorted manner if you enter an item as a selection criterion. Completely empty storage locations in
this category are displayed without slots.
The slots are also displayed if open put-aways already exist for the individual slots in empty storage locations.
The displayed slot is transferred to the storage location field upon selection. If a slot is not required in an application and no slots are displayed in the search results, the slot 1 is selected automatically.

Note
For a search with the selection Assigned = (Ignore), no slots are displayed. An entry in the list of results corresponds to an entire storage location.

Type – this column displays the storage location type of the location.

Priority – this column displays the priority of the storage location.

Current item – this column displays the number of the stored item if the location is assigned to a single item or if you have specified an item as a selection characteristic. If no items are put away, nothing is displayed. If you have not specified an item as a selection characteristic, Mixed is displayed if the location is not occupied.

Inventory – this column displays the total quantity of the item stored in the displayed location.
If the storage location is empty or the current item is Mixed, nothing is displayed in this field.

Open processes – this column displays the category of processes that are still open for the location. Possible values are:

  • None
  • Put-aways
  • Withdrawals
  • Withdrawal and put-away

To be withdrawn – this column displays the total quantity of the location minus the open withdrawal quantity.
If the storage location is empty or the current item is Mixed, nothing is displayed in this field.

FIFO date – the FIFO date is displayed in this column if the location is assigned to an item. If the location is not empty and no item has been specified as a selection characteristic, no FIFO date is displayed.

Note
The FIFO date for batches is the expiration date, not the first putaway date.
