Procedures: Put-away restrictions

Topic overview

This article describes the procedures for using the Put-away restrictions application. The procedures contain instruction steps, e.g. how to add or edit a putaway restriction. It also informs about possible preconditions and effects.

The description of the Putaway restrictions application, which includes field and action descriptions, can be found in the Put-away restrictions article.

Entering a new put-away restriction

The following instructions for entering a new put-away restriction do not include the assignment to a warehouse. These instructions can be found in the chapter Assigning a put-away restriction to a warehouse. Please note that you can assign a put-away restriction to several warehouses. For this reason, you can search for Put-away restrictions and Put-away restrictions and warehouse.

Instructions

  1. Open the Put-away restrictions application
  2. Select the [New] button in the standard toolbar
  3. Enter a unique identification for the new put-away restriction in the Put-away restriction field
  4. Enter a name for the new put-away restriction in the Desciption field
  5. Select the [Save] button in the standard toolbar
  • The put-away restriction is saved.

Assigning a put-away restriction to a warehouse

  1. Open the Put-away restrictions application
  2. Enter the identification of the put-away restriction you want to assign to a warehouse in the Put-away restriction field
  3. Select the [Refresh] button in the standard toolbar
  • The putaway restriction is opened.
  1. In the Warehouse field, enter the identification of the warehouse to which you want to assign the put-away restriction and for which you want to define the sequence in which the warehouse zones are to be taken into account for putaway
  2. Select the [New] button in the standard toolbar
  • The warehouse zones and the rows of the warehouse are displayed in the item list. The status of the application changes to In process.
Note
In the Sequence column, the value zero is suggested for all warehouse zones. If you accept this setting, no storage locations can be determined for putaway in the warehouse. Therefore, make sure that you define a sequence for each warehouse where the put-away restriction is to be used.
  1. Enter a sequence for the warehouse zones displayed in the item list. The warehouse zones are considered in ascending order for putaway. If two warehouse zones have the same value, it is not specified which one is taken into account first. A warehouse zone with the value zero is not taken into account.
  2. Enter a sequence for the rows displayed in the item list. The rows of a warehouse zone are taken into account in ascending order for putaway. If two rows have the same value, it is not specified which one is taken into account first.
Note
If the Random function is activated, rows with the value zero are also taken into account. If the function is deactivated, rows with the value zero are not taken into account for put-away.
  1. Select the [Save] button in the standard toolbar
  • The put-away restriction with the warehouse assignment is saved. The application switches to view mode.
