Topic overview
The [Generate inventory requisitions] action is used to create inventory requisitions for withdrawals or relocations. To do this, you need an inventory requisition type which utilization is set to Manual inventory movement and for which one of the types Withdrawal or Relocation is defined.
An inventory requisition is generated for each combination of warehouse and inventory owner.
If the opening status Released is set for the inventory requisition type and a generated line item cannot be released, then this line item remains in the status In process. You can subsequently edit such line items in the Inventory requisitions application so that they can be released.
The [Generate inventory requisitions] action is available in the following applications:
- Cockpit: Inventories
- Cockpit: Storage location inventories
The action opens a dialog box, which is described under: Dialog box: Generate inventory requisition
Dialog box: Generate inventory requisition
In the Generate inventory requisition dialog box, enter the parameters required to generate inventory requisitions. You can then decide whether the inventory requisitions should be generated in the background or immediately.
Description of the fields:
Category – you can generate inventory requisitions for withdrawals or transfer postings. To do this, select one of the following categories:
- Withdrawal
- Transfer posting (Relocation)
Type – enter an inventory requisition type for the inventory requisitions that are to be generated.
The number range and the other characteristics of an inventory requisition as well as the definition for the inventory order type originate from the inventory requisition type.
Employee responsible – enter an employee responsible for the inventory requisitions.
Text – enter a text for the inventory requisitions that are to be generated.
Include only available inventories – activate this parameter to only generate inventory requisitions for available inventory. If activated, the generated inventory requisitions are reduced to the available quantities.
The available inventory quantity is calculated from the selected inventory quantity minus the firmly reserved inventory quantity with the same QS status. In the case of withdrawal or transfer posting with different source and target warehouses, only the inventory quantity firmly reserved in the Released QS status is taken into account. Inventory quantities with the inventory quality Special inventory are never taken into account.
Include only unpackaged inventories – activate this parameter to only generate inventory requisitions for unpackaged inventories. If activated, the inventory requisitions generated are reduced to the unpackaged quantities.
Warehouse/warehouse zone/storage location – if you have entered an inventory requisition type of the category Transfer posting, then also enter the target warehouse in this field and, if required, a warehouse zone and a storage location with or without a slot.
With storage unit – the transportation process can be carried out with or without storage unit. It depends on the type and whether an item or a loading unit is being transported.
- Withdrawal type – the storage unit setting is only taken into account if you want to remove an item inventory from a storage location that accepts storage unit. Withdrawal from a bulk storage location always takes place with storage unit, even if you do not activate this parameter.
- Relocation type – with the Relocation type, the definition is taken into account if you have specified a target storage location that accepts storage unit. If you have not specified a storage location or warehouse zone, the put-away logic decides whether storage unit should be used. In this case, the setting for this function is ignored.
- Transporting a loading unit – if you have selected a loading unit for withdrawal or relocation, transportation is always carried out using the storage unit of the loading unit. In this case, the parameter setting is ignored.
Storage unit – for inventory requisitions of the transfer posting category, you can define a storage unit in this field that is to be used for put-away if the target storage location accepts the use of storage unit. If this is not defined, the preferred storage unit saved in the item master data is used.
For storage locations that do not accept storage unit, the specification is ignored.
Loading units are always relocated with the storage unit of the loading unit, so the specification is ignored for them.
Site – the organization for which the inventory requisition is to be entered is displayed in this field. This is the logistics organization that was active when the [Generate inventory requisitions] action was carried out.
You cannot change the displayed organization.
Automatically confirm warnings – this parameter is used to specify whether warnings displayed during the execution of the action should be confirmed automatically.
If activated, the action is successfully executed even if warnings occur.
If deactivated, the action is aborted if warnings occur.
