Procedures: Merge/split identifiers

Topic overview

This article describes the procedures for using the Merge/split identifiers application. The procedures contain instruction steps with which you can, for example, merge or split an identifier. You are also informed about possible preconditions and effects.

The description of the Merge/split identifiers application, which also contains field and button descriptions, can be found in the article Merge/split identifiers.

Split view

With options provided in the Split view of the Merge/split identifiers application you can split available inventories of a source identifier into any number of destination identifiers.

Creating an identifier inventory

  1. Open the Merge/split identifiers application
  2. The inventory owner is assigned the default value
  3. Enter the warehouse of the inventory identifier to be split. This is also the destination warehouse and must be specified exactly.
Note
If the warehouse or warehouse zone is structured, the warehouse zone or storage location must be specified in order to specify the exact warehouse. The Warehouse zone and Storage location fields are only displayed if the Storage location control function is active for the client in the Customizing application.
  1. Enter the item and the source identifier to be split in the fields of the same name.

Splitting

  1. Once you have entered the identifier inventory, select [Refresh] in the standard toolbar
  • The list with the two lines is now displayed. The first line provides information about the source identifier; it cannot be changed. The second line is used to define the extent to which the source identifier is to be split.
  1. In the Destination identifier column, enter the identifier whose inventory is to be increased. If you do not enter an identifier, a new identifier is created.
  2. If the item entered is a batch item, you can enter an expiration date for the new destination identifier to be generated in the Exp. date column
Note
If the item entered is not a batch item, the Exp. date column is not displayed.
  1. In theQuantity column, enter how much available inventory is to be split from the source identifier and transferred to the destination identifier
  2. If the split inventory is to be included in a loading unit, an empty loading unit with the status Created must be entered in the column Destination loading unit
Note
The Destination loading unit column is only visible if the Shipping/loading units function is active for the site of the warehouse entered in Customizing.
  1. In the Use source identifier data column, specify whether the master data of the source identifier should be taken into account when creating a new identifier.
  2. Select [Add new row] button in the list toolbar to be able to split the additional source identifiers
  3. Repeat the instruction steps from step 2 until you have completely entered all destination identifiers
  4. Finally, select the [Post] button in the standard toolbar to create inventory postings
Note
Messages and the current available inventory show you the result of the [Post] action. If the inevntory postings have not yet been processed, the inventory change cannot yet be displayed. The [Refresh] action can be used to determine the available inventory again and thus refresh the view.
