Effects
The transfer of the released destination data takes place in several steps:
1. Copying the meta data
The current meta data of an item characteristic is copied to the destination meta data with the same name. After this copying process, the destination data transfer status for the item characteristic concerned is changed to Meta data copied.
2. Copying the data
For copying the data, only those item characteristics are considered for which the status Meta data copied has been assigned by the system as the destination data transfer status.
Copying the data involves the following processes:
- The table schema of the item characteristics is updated
- The assignments are changed as follows:
- The destination meta data is copied to the corresponding item characteristic assignments for each item characteristic. If both the characteristic category and destination characteristic category are of the Local type, the characteristic is moved up or down within the classification levels. The level is changed to match the destination classification. In addition, the assigned sequence must be unique. To simplify matters, the next free number is used for each destination assignment. This can be changed in the Item characteristic classifications application.
- The destination data is transferred as current data, but is initially retained
- The source meta data is marked for deletion by the system
- The destination data transfer status of the item characteristics changes to Data copied
3. Finalization
Only those item characteristics for which the status Data copied has been assigned by the system as the destination data transfer status are considered for the finalizing operations.
The finalizing operations include the following:
- The source table columns are deleted and thus also the associated original item characteristic definitions
- The destination data (Destination characteristic category, Destination characteristics group and Destination classification) is emptied
- The destination data transfer status is no longer displayed.
The destination data status is changed to No destination data exist.
