Cockpit: Inventory orders/line items

The Cockpit: Inventory orders/line items application can be used to query inventory orders or their line items using such information as item or status. With this application you can get on overview of existing inventory order line items in the system. Additionally, you can call up further actions for one or multiple line items, such as assigning a line item to an inventory order.

General description of cockpit applications, including the description of their identification pane and work pane can be found in article Applications of Cockpit type. Information about customization settings, business entities and authorizations can be found in article Inventory orders which describes the applications for creating vouchers. This article describes the standard actions for the Cockpit: Inventory order/line items application.

With the Cockpit: Inventory orders application, you can view all or selected inventory order line items. In addition, further edit options are available:

  • Display associated vouchers for a single voucher line item
  • Change voucher number in the Inventory orders application for further voucher edition
  • Call up the application-related actions

The application consists of an identification pane and a work pane.

Identification pane

The identification pane contains fields for querying data. The most important query fields are already available. However, the number of query fields and their placement can vary.

The identification pane is saved per view. You can individually determine which fields are to be displayed in the identification pane by selecting the desired query fields under [Define query and result properties] → [Specify search fields]. The description of the query fields can usually be found in the online help.

General descriptions of a query field can be found in the Cockpits article.

For information on the meaning of the fields, please refer to the explanations in the Inventory orders documentation.

In addition to the main search, detail search options are also available in the identification pane. Detail searches can be combined with the main search, so that both the search criteria from the identification pane and from the detail search can be used. For combining purposes, a button [Detail searches] is available in the toolbar in the work pane. To display the corresponding results in the work pane, the button [Detail searches] available in the work pane’s toolbar must be used. If it is activated, additional header rows with the following detailed information will appear in the work pane.

The following detail search options are available:

  • Serial number information
  • Loading unit information

Work pane

The work pane contains a table where queried inventory order line items are displayed. You can individually determine which elements of the inventory order line item are to be displayed in the table. To view the inventory order line items in different ways with different information, you can also create multiple views.

If detail search options are activated, additional header rows will appear in the table.

General descriptions of a work pane can be found in the Cockpits article.

For information on the meaning of the columns, please refer to the explanations in the Inventory orders article.

In the Cockpit: Inventory orders/line items application, you can call up the following actions:

These actions are also described in articles:

Complete and report

The [Complete and report] action under the Actions button group in the standard toolbar of the application pane is used to report selected line items of inventory orders or separated line items of inventory orders.

Hint
Only the line items of an inventory order, which have the status Created, can be reported.

Complete without reporting

The [Complete without reporting] action under the Actions button group in the standard toolbar of the application pane is used to complete selected line items of inventory orders or separated line items of inventory orders without reporting.

Hint
Only the line items of an inventory order, which have the status Created, can be completed without reporting.

Assign to inventory order

The [Assign to inventory order] action under the Actions button group in the standard toolbar of the application pane is used to assign selected inventory order line item to another inventory order. Line items can be assigned to an already existing inventory order or a new inventory order can be created for this purpose.

This action can only be carried out for inventory order line items that are not yet completed. A separated line item of an inventory order can only be assigned together with its secondary line items.

Inventory orders that no longer contain any line items after the action has been executed are automatically deleted.

Selecting this action opens a dialog window, where the following can be specified:

  • Assignment – specifies whether the line items of an existing inventory order should be assigned to a new or existing order.
  • Type – this field is active if the option New order is selected in the Assignment field. In this field, enter the type of inventory order, which should be used in the new inventory order. Inventory order type is required when the inventory order line items belong to inventory orders of different types. Inventory orders can only be created if the line items belonging to an inventory order are of the same type, use the same warehouse and are created from the same vouchers. Otherwise, the system displays an error message. If the line items include also return transfer order line items, a new return transfer order will be created.
  • Order – this field is active if the option Existing order is selected under the Assignment field In this field, enter the type and number of the inventory order to which the line items should be assigned. The inventory order must not be completed or in process. Inventory orders can only be created if the line items belonging to an inventory order are of the same type, use the same warehouse and are created from the same vouchers. Otherwise, the system displays an error message. If the line items include also return transfer order line items and a return transfer order belongs to the target order, such line items must then be assigned to that return transfer order. Otherwise, a new return transfer order will be created.
The output status of the affected inventory orders, both the previously assigned order and the newly assigned order, will be changed to Not output.
The numbering of line items in the target inventory order may differ from the numbering in the source inventory order because the sorting criteria of the inventory order are also taken into account in the numbering in the target inventory order.

Generate inventory requisition for return transport

This action is used to generate an inventory requisition for return transport. The new inventory requisition refers to a completed inventory order and includes the quantities of items transported with it. The action is only available for already completed inventory orders that were generated for one of these transport processes:

  • Put away
  • Withdraw
  • Transfer

For warehouse orders without a source voucher, for example, replenishment for a picking location, the action cannot be executed. For the new inventory requisition, you can decide, among other things, whether the storage locations of the referenced inventory order should be used or others. Depending on the settings in the inventory requisition type, you must then release the generated inventory requisition and generate an inventory order so that the return transport can take place.

Hint
Inventory values changed at the destination warehouse are not restored by the return transport.
