Opportunity types

Topic overview

The Relationship Management in Comarch ERP Enterprise includes functions such as planning, assessing, and tracking sales projects such as opportunities and sales campaigns. Here, opportunities are the instrument for tailoring sales projects to an actual contact or an existing customer. Opportunities are, therefore, promising sales chances with potential or existing customers. With the application of opportunities, all actions can be planned and edited around these opportunities.

This document describes the roles opportunity types play for editing of opportunities. You can find information on how opportunities can be displayed in the system and how the application of the same name is structured.

Definitions of terms

Opportunity Types – Opportunity types help identify opportunities. In the opportunity type, the number range is set for the opportunities of this type. The opportunity types also contain defaults and settings that influence further processing of the opportunities of this type.

Opportunities – Opportunities are promising sales chances with potential or existing customers. Sales support information is made available for these opportunities. This may include, for example, historical or planned activities, persons involved, and the probability of making the sale.

Application description

The application Opportunity types is used to create and edit opportunities. Opportunity types are required to use opportunities.

The application Opportunity types is not divided into identification pane and work pane. It has an application pane with input fields.

Input fields

The entry in the Type field identifies the opportunity type uniquely. In addition, a Description for the opportunity type is entered.

In the remaining fields of the opportunity type, data are entered or selected that are to apply to all opportunities that use this type. The data saved here are automatically accepted in all new opportunities of this type. Some act as defaults for the opportunity data to be entered and can be used individually. Other opportunity data are settings for tests and calculations of the system and cannot be changed in the opportunity normally.

Detailed description of fields:

  • Type – The Type field displays the unique identification of the opportunity type. This identification can comprise of a maximum of three numbers, letters or a number-letter combination. It can be chosen as desired by the user.
    Note
    If a number range for opportunity types is entered in the application Customizing, the system recommends an identification that was generated according the rules of this number range. You can replace this default.

    The identification of the type is used to use the correct opportunity in other applications and queries.
  • Description – The description serves as an additional distinguishing characteristic. Its text can be chosen by the user. Enter a descriptive and as unique a description as possible to facilitate searches for it.
  • Number range – Assign a number range of opportunity type. The system uses this number range to automatically generate a number for new opportunities based on a certain pattern. The number range is created beforehand in the Base framework for opportunities.

  • Partner relationship category – Select some or all partner reference types. All those partner relationship types are displayed for selections that were created in the application of the same name in the Base framework. The default is “none.”
    The selected partner relationship types are later displayed in all opportunities of this type automatically if they are available in the assigned partner of the opportunity in its partner master data.
    Note
    The additionally entered partner reference types in Relationship Management cannot be influenced in this case.
  • Document type – Specify a document template for notes in this field. This document will be used to notes created for opportunity of this type. This field can be edited only if Document Management is activated in Customizing application.
  • Sales stage – Specify in this field the default with which new opportunities of this type are to be created for the sales stage.

Customizing

Relationship Management can be switched on or off as a whole in the Customizing application under Relationship Management grouping.

Business entities

The following business entity is relevant for the Opportunity types application that you use, for instance, for:

  • Assigning authorizations,
  • Providing activity definitions or
  • Importing or exporting

Authorizations

Authorizations can be assigned by means of authorization roles as well as by assigning an organization. The authorization concept is described in the technical documentation Authorizations.

Special capabilities

The Opportunity types application has no special capabilities.

Organizational assignments

If the Content-based authorizations function is activated in the Customizing application, a person can only view the Opportunity types application if an organization that is linked to at least one of the following structures has been assigned to him or her in the partner master data:

  • Sales

The Opportunity types application includes the Authorizations table. In order for a person to use an opportunity type, he or she must be assigned in the partner master data to at least one organization entered in the Authorizations table of the respective opportunity type.

Note
The table is only visible if the user has been assigned an authorization role that grants Display authorizations capability for the associated business entity. To enable editing of content-based authorizations, the user also requires the Change authorizations capability. In addition, the general capabilities for opening the respective application and for opening and editing the respective business entities must be assigned to the user.

Special features

There are no features for the Opportunity types application.

Authorizations for business partners

The Opportunity types application is not released for business partners.
