Topic overview
Inventories and their values can be generated as an inventory valuation on a specific inventory deadline using the Generate inventory count valuation application. The data from this inventory count valuation can be output as a report document using the Output inventory at inventory deadline application.
This article informs you in particular about the parameters of the application with which you define what the report document to be output contains. You will also find information about the output result. The possible output settings in this application also correspond to the setting options in the dialog window for any output. You will find a description of the possible output settings in the Operating guidelines.
The procedures for using the application can be found in the Procedures: Output report documents article.
Definitions of terms
Report document
A voucher document or report document is generated when a report is output to an output device, such as a printer or to a file. The report document contains a list of objects, e.g., a list of addresses. A voucher document always concerns one object—a sales order, for example. The documents may be archived or forwarded to a partner, for example, as a fax or by e-mail.
Warehouse inventory management
Warehouse inventory management is an update of the current warehouse inventories. The inventory management server performs this update after every inventory posting with a quantity transaction. Warehouse inventory management is performed at the lowest structural level of the warehouse and item or identifier. If the item possesses several item units, the quantities are stored per unit. Inventory quantities can have different properties, such as subdivision into different quality statuses.
Inventory count
An inventory count is a record of the quantity and value of the existing inventory of a company’s assets and liabilities. It is performed at a set time as a physical inventory count. In this process, the existing inventories are counted, measured, weighed, or estimated and can be compared to the book inventories. The implementation can be carried out by different inventory count methods such as annual inventory count, perpetual inventory count, or sampling inventory count.
Inventory count valuation
Inventory count valuation refers to a change regarding the value of existing inventory. In contrast to the inventory count, there is no change in inventory quantities during the inventory count valuation. The inventory count valuation is usually carried out following an inventory count, but may be done independently of this.
Application description
You can use the Output inventory at inventory deadline application to output the inventories and values contained in an inventory count valuation in a report document. If the inventory count valuation was created for all items, this application can be used to create an overview of the inventories and values of all items on an inventory deadline.
Parameters section
Use the parameters to define the search criteria and, as a result, the output result. Parameters are therefore used for data set selection.
The parameters available in the Output inventory at inventory deadline application are explained below:
Report title – this parameter contains the title of the report document. The name of the underlying report is usually specified as the default value. The title can be defined individually. Enter the desired title or change the default value.
Inventory count valuation – this parameter is used to specify the inventory count valuation from which the data is to be output. Enter the identification of the desired inventory count valuation.
Item – this parameter is used to specify which item inventories are to be output. Enter the identification of one or more items.
Site – this parameter is used to specify the location from which the inventories are to be output. Enter the identification of one or more sites. However, the site specification is only taken into account if the specified inventory count valuation was generated at warehouse level.
Warehouse – this parameter is used to specify the warehouse from which the inventories are to be output. Enter the identification of one or more warehouses. However, the warehouse specification is only taken into account if the specified inventory count valuation was generated at warehouse level.
Item classification 1 – this parameter is used to specify that only inventories of items belonging to the specified item classification 1 are output. Enter the identification of one or more item classifications 1.
Item classification 3 – this parameter is used to specify that only inventories of items belonging to the specified item classification 3 are output. Enter the identification of one or more item classifications 3.
Warehouse classification – this parameter is used to specify that only inventories from warehouses that belong to the specified warehouse classification are output. Enter the identification of one or more warehouse classifications. The warehouse classification specification is only taken into account if the specified inventory count valuation was generated at warehouse level.
Firm – in a multi-site environment, the selected company for which the inventory count valuations are valid is displayed in this field. Inventory valuations are company-dependent.
Output result
The report document contains inventories and values from a specified inventory count valuation based on the defined parameters. The report document includes the following columns:
Firm – in a multi-site environment, the selected company of the respective inventory count valuations is also displayed.
Item – this column contains the identification of the respective item.
Quantity – this column contains the inventory of the respective item, in the case of inventory count valuation at warehouse level at the respective warehouse.
Price – this column contains the valuation price of the respective item.
Value – this column contains the inventory value of the respective item if the inventory count valuation was generated at item level. If the inventory count valuation was generated at warehouse level, this column contains the inventory value of the item at the respective warehouse.
New price – this column contains the new valuation price that was assigned for the item in the associated inventory count valuation. If the inventory count valuation was carried out at warehouse level, the new valuation price only applies to the warehouse displayed. The price dimension is displayed next to the valuation price if it differs from the value Per 1.
Price origin – this column shows which price was used for valuation. The following values can be displayed:
- Billing price 1
- Billing price 2
- Billing price 3
- Billing price 4
- Billing price 5
- Inventory count price
- Average price
- Last cost price
- Manual

- No origin
New value – this column contains the new inventory value of the item at the respective warehouse (for valuation at warehouse level) or alternatively the new inventory value of the item as a whole.

The total value of all items is listed at the end of the report document. The old values and the new values are added together.
For inventory count valuations generated at warehouse level, the report document also contains a total line for each warehouse in which the warehouse values are totaled.
