Procedures: Items, Planning view

Topic overview

This document describes the procedures for handling the Planning view in Items application.

Create planning data

Note
It must be ensured in case of variant items that the related reference item has financial data and that they are not marked for deletion.

Hint
In the Planning view:

  • no alias items can be created since only base data is run for them.
  • externally manufactured items cannot be created

Preconditions

In a multi-site or single-site environment with activated content-based authorizations, (Customizing application, Base section) the selected organization must be an inventory logistic organization. Furthermore, only the users assigned to the organization responsible for the item can create new utilizations of an item.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. Open the item for which you want to enter planning data.
  3. If required, change the utilization status of the planning data in the work pane under General tab. You can choose between Released and Blocked statuses.
  4. Select the desired type of demand coverage in the Demand coverage field under Planning data section. Depending on the type of demand coverage you select, the fields of the corresponding grouping get activated automatically (Purchasing internal / External, production).
  5. If required, fill out the other fields with the desired planning data.
  6. Click on [Save] button on the standard toolbar.

Delete planning data

Planning data is not deleted directly and must first be marked for deletion. Only those versions of planning data that have their entire validity period in the future can be deleted directly, since they have not been used yet.

Note
If the planning data of a reference item for a certain organization is marked for deletion, the variant items for this organization are also marked for deletion.

Mark planning data for deletion

Preconditions

The financial data has not been marked for deletion yet.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. Open the item whose planning data is to be marked for deletion.
  3. In a multi-site environment, select the organization for which you are editing the item
  4. Click on [Mark for deletion] in the standard toolbar.

Note
If a warning dialog window opens, more than the currently opened data are affected. This always happens if a reference item or several organizations are affected. Unmark for deletion does not completely remove the mark for deletion from all affected data. See chapter Unmark planning data for deletion.

A warning dialog window opens if more than the opened planning data are affected by the action.

5. Confirm the warning if you really want to mark the planning data for deletion.

Note
The planning data contains a mark for deletion in all versions The planning data contains a mark for deletion in all versions. If the (active OLTP) client is selected in a multi-site environment, the planning data gets marked for deletion in all organizations. If a reference item is involved, all the variant items generated from this item also get marked for deletion.

Unmark planning data for deletion

Preconditions

Planning data has been marked for deletion. . In a variant item the mark for deletion can be removed from the planning data only if the planning data of the related reference items have not been marked for deletion.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. Open the planning data you want to unmark for deletion.
  3. In a multi-site environment, select the organization for which you are editing the item
  4. Click on [Unmark for deletion] in the standard toolbar.
  • Deletion flag will be removed from the planning data
Note
In a multi-site environment: Even if the selected organization is an (active OLTP) client, the mark for deletion is removed only for the selected organization.
Note
Unmarking a reference item for deletion does not affect the mark for deletion of a related variant item.

Delete planning data version

Note
By deleting a future version of planning data, the validity period of the previous version is correspondingly extended.

Preconditions
A planning data version, that will be valid only in the future, exists.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. Open the item whose future planning data version you want to delete
  3. In a multi-site environment, select the organization for which you are editing the item.
  4. Using the [Next] and [Back] buttons browse in the Valid from field and switch to a future version of the planning data to be deleted.
  5. Click on [Delete] button on the standard toolbar. The planning data version will be deleted.

Create new version of planning data

Preconditions
In order to generate a new version, it is important for the item to have planning data. In a multi-site environment, the selected organization should have accepted the data processing.

. In Planning view, you can generate a new version for items of following material types:

  • Inventory item
  • Storage units
  • Variant items

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. 2. Open the item from which you would like to create a new version.
  3. In a multi-site environment, select the organization for which you are editing the item.
  4. Click on [New version] button on the standard toolbar. A new version of the planning data will be generated.
  5.  5. Enter a future date from which the planning data will be valid in the Valid from field.
  6. Click on [Save] button on the standard toolbar. A new version of the planning data will be saved.

Change the utilization status of planning data

You can change the usage status of a planning data by either releasing or blocking it.

Note
In a multi-site or single-site environment with activated Content-related authorizations, a block set for the client is valid for all organizations.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. 2. Open the item whose planning data utilization status is to be changed.
  3. In a multi-site environment, select the organization for which you are editing the item.
  4. Change the value of the Usage status field to Released or Blocked.
  5. In case of a block, enter a future date, until which the planning data cannot be used, in the Blocked until field.
  6. Click on [Save] button on the standard toolbar.

Warehouse Data Tab

It is possible to overwrite some data entered in the General tab in the Warehouse data tab at the warehouse level.

Create warehouse data

Preconditions

In a multi-site environment, the selected organization should have accepted the data processing.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. Open the item whose planning data is to be changed for specific warehouses.
  3. In a multi-site environment, select the organization for which you are editing the item.
  4. Switch to the Warehouse data tab.
  5. Click on [New] on the standard toolbar of the list.
  6. A new line is generated in the list. The fields will be pre-populated with the standard values entered in the General tab. In the Warehouse field, enter the warehouse for which this data will be valid.
  7. Make any changes you need to the planning data for this warehouse.
  8. Click on [Save] button on the standard toolbar.

Delete warehouse data

Preconditions

In a multi-site environment, the selected organization should have accepted the data processing.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. Open the item whose planning data is to be changed for specific warehouses.
  3. In a multi-site environment, select the organization for which you are editing the item.
  4. Switch to the Inventory data tab.
  5. Select the data for the warehouse to be deleted.
  6. Click on [Delete] on the standard toolbar of the list.
  7. Save the item. The selected inventory data will be deleted.

Accept planning data for selected organizations

Preconditions

This functionality exists only in a multi-site environment or if Content-based authorizations are activated in a single-site environment.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. 2. Open the item whose planning data is to be accepted.
  3. 3. Select the organization for which you want to accept the planning data.
  4. Click on [Accept data for the selected organization] in the standard toolbar.
  5. Click on [Save] button on the standard toolbar.
  • The planning data is accepted for the selected organization.

Accept data processing for the selected organization

Note
This action is available only in a multi-site environment. The selected organization must be permitted its own master data.

Instructions

  1. Open the Items application and switch to “Planning view.
  2. Open the item for which you want to accept planning data processing
  3. 3. Select the organization for which you want to accept the planning data processing.
  4. Click on [Accept data processing for the selected organization] in the standard toolbar.
    The planning data can be processed for the selected organization.
  5. Change the planning data, if desired.
  6. Click on [Save] button on the standard toolbar.
