This article describes the procedures for using the Calculate inventory values application. The procedures contain instructions on how to calculate the inventory values using the FIFO or LIFO valuation method, for example. You will also be informed about possible preconditions and effects.

Calculate inventory values
Preconditions
An inventory valuation according to a specific valuation method requires that the desired valuation method has been activated in the Customizing application. If the valuation method has not been activated, it is not available in the Optional valuation methods query field of the Calculate inventory values application.
As long as the posting period has not been closed, you can recalculate the inventory values for the open periods as often as you like. If an inventory valuation is carried out after the posting period has been closed, it is considered final and can no longer be repeated.
The calculation of the alternative valuation methods must be carried out at least once a year, at the end of the financial year.
Instructions
- Open the Calculate inventory values application
- In the fields Up to posting period and Optional valuation methods, enter the posting period and the desired valuation methods for which the specified methods or method steps (for annual LIFO) are to be calculated up to the selected period (inclusive). NotePlease note that you can also enter several values in the Optional valuation methods field.
- Select the [Calculate inventory values] button
- The dialog window for the background settings opens.
- Enter the data for background processing and confirm the data by selecting the [In background] or [Immediately] button.
- The inventory values are calculated for the specified procedures.
