Simulation posting types

Topic overview

So-called simulation postings can be recorded in financial accounting. Simulation posting types are assigned to these postings in order to differentiate them from regular postings.

This article describes the Simulation posting types” application.

The Simulation posting types” application procedures correspond to the general procedures for spreadsheet applications, which can be found in the General Procedures for Table Applications” article.

Application description

In this application, you enter a new simulation transaction type. Existing simulation posting types are displayed and can be edited.

The Simulation posting types” application consists of a pane.

Query pane

If necessary, you can enter search criteria in the query pane and then use the [Update]” action to retrieve the data from the system and have it displayed in the work pane.

The fields in detail:

  • Simulation posting type – if simulation postings should be evaluated, you can additionally restrict the selection of the simulation postings to be evaluated by specifying one or more simulation posting types. If you do not enter a simulation posting type, all simulation postings are taken into account.
  • Description – the description is an additional name for an object. Meaningful descriptions facilitate user searches. Any description can be chosen, and the description can be ambiguous. However, it is recommended to enter different descriptions. The description can be entered in several languages.
  • Deletion marker – you can search for simulation posting types with a deletion indicator as well as for simulation posting types without a deletion indicator. To do this, select the following entries:
    • All
    • Marked as deleted
    • Not marked for deletion

Work pane

In the work pane of the application, you enter a new or edit an existing simulation posting type. The work pane consists of a table with the following fields:

  • Simulation posting type – if simulation postings should be evaluated, you can additionally restrict the selection of the simulation postings to be evaluated by specifying one or more simulation posting types. If you do not enter a simulation posting type, all simulation postings are taken into account.
  • Description – the description is an additional name for an object. Meaningful descriptions facilitate user searches. Any description can be chosen, and the description can be ambiguous. That is, several objects can have the same description. However, it is recommended to enter different descriptions. The description can be entered in several languages.

Customizing

No settings need to be made for the Simulation posting types” application in the Customizing” application.

The following business entity is relevant for the Simulation posting types” application that you use, for instance, for:

  • Assign authorizations
  • Set up activity definitions
  • Import or export data

Authorizations

Authorizations can be assigned by means of authorization roles as well as by assigning an organization. More about the authorization concept can be found in the article Authorizations”.

The Simulation posting types” application has no special capabilities.

Organizational assignments

If the Content-based authorizations” function is activated in the Customizing” application, a person can only use the Simulation posting types” application if an organization that is linked to at least one of the following organizational structures has been assigned to him or her in the partner master data:

  • Financial accounting

Special features

There are no special features for the Simulation posting types” application.

Authorizations for business partners

The Simulation posting types” application is not released for business partners.
